Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

It is estimated that 15% of the population suffers from IBS, though only a small minority of these seek professional help.

IBS patients tend to suffer from a variety of symptoms including abdominal pain, bloating, back pain, nausea.  Yet IBS is not thought to have any connection with serious bowel disease, nor is its cause known

What is known is that IBS both creates, and is made worse by stress, with many patients suffering from anxiety and depression.

bullet

by installing more constructive ways for the patient to think about the symptoms

bullet

by teaching the patients effective ways of dealing with stress and the causes of stress

bullet

by teaching the patient how to manage any pain associated with the IBS
