Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is an anxiety disorder whereby a person entertains recurrent and intrusive thoughts, ideas or feelings and then feels compelled to carry out some repetitive and ritualistic behaviour to get a sense of relief.  These behaviours are often such things as hand washing, checking and rechecking, putting things into a certain order.

This can be extremely time consuming and distressing for the individuals concerned, who often manage to keep it secret even from close acquaintances.

How hypnotherapy can help

Hypnotherapy provides an effective two stage treatment for this condition. Attempting stage two without having achieved stage one is likely to only provide temporary relief.

Stage One is to remove the compulsion that causes the behaviour

Stage Two is to remove what remains, which is now a habit, rather than a compulsive habit
